Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Puppies

AFFECTED WITH FAMILY

Knowing how affectionate a dog is with his family and other close friends is important. Some breeds are more reserved and can avoid being around their owners. Other breeds, however, treat all their friends like family.

GOOD FOR YOUNG CHILDREN

The breed’s tolerance, patience with children’s behaviour, and overall family-friendly nature. Children under five years of age or those with limited exposure to dogs should be kept away from their dogs.

EXPERIENCED WITH OTHER DOGS

How friendly a breed is with other dogs. Dogs must be properly supervised when interacting with other dogs. However, some breeds are naturally more friendly with other dogs at home than others.

SHEDDING LEVEL

What amount of fur and hair can the breed expect to shed? High-shedding breeds require more frequent brushing, may trigger allergies and require more regular vacuuming and lint rolling.

COAT GROOMING FREQUENCY

It is important to consider how often a breed needs to be bathed, brushed, and trimmed. When assessing the amount of grooming effort required, think about how much time, patience, budget, and money you have. Regular nail trimming is a must for all breeds.

DROOLING LEVEL

The amount of drool-prone some breeds are. Dogs that leave slobbery on your arm and big wet spots on clothes might not be right if you are a neat freak.

COAT TYPE

There are many types of canine coats, depending on the breed. Each coat has its grooming requirements, allergen potential, and shedding levels. When choosing a pet for your family, you may prefer a certain type of coat over another.

COAT LENGTH

The expected length of the breed’s hair. You can trim the hair of some long-haired breeds, but it will need additional maintenance.

OPENNESS TO STRANGERS

It is surprising how welcoming some breeds are towards strangers. Some breeds are more cautious or reserved around strangers than others, regardless of where they live, while others will welcome any new person who is nearby.

PLAYFULNESS LEVEL

It is possible to see how active a breed will be about playing, even after they reach puberty. Some breeds will still love to play fetch or tug-of-war well into adulthood, while others will be content to lay on the couch most of the day.

WATCHDOG/PROTECTIVE NATURE

The tendency of a breed to alert you when strangers are nearby is it’s characteristic. These breeds are more likely to react to potential threats, such as the mailman or the squirrel outside your window. These breeds will likely warm up to strangers and be accepted by their families.

ADAPTABILITY LEVEL

How well can a breed handle change? Changes in lifestyle, weather, schedule or other aspects of daily life can all be considered.

TRAINABILITY LEVEL

It will be easy to train your dog, and it will be so much fun for your dog to learn new things. Some breeds are happy to please their owners, while others love to be free to do whatever they like, whenever they want, and wherever they want.

ENERGY LEVEL

How much exercise and mental stimulation a breed requires? High-energy breeds are eager to get on the next adventure and ready to go. They will spend their day running, jumping and playing. They’re like couch potatoes and just want to lay down and sleep.

BARKING LEVEL

The frequency with which this breed vocalizes, whether they are barking or howling. Some breeds bark at passers-by and birds, while others only bark when in a particular situation. Barkless breeds may still have vocal capabilities and can use other sounds to communicate their thoughts.

MENTAL STIMULATION IS A MUST

How much mental stimulation is required for a breed to be happy and healthy? Purpose-bred dogs may have tasks that require concentration, problem-solving, decision-making or other skills. Without the mental stimulation they need, they will create their projects to keep them busy.
